After getting so much success in streaming the best of the content, Netflix now has taken a step ahead in streaming the movies in Indian Regional language which is Kannada.
Netflix, which is an on-demand streaming service is in search of more local and regional content. The Kannada movies U-Turn and Thithi is expected to give more viewership to the streaming giant among the local viewers.A latest report related to Netflix shows that the expected amount that the streaming giant is going to spend on India-focused content is around USD 300 million which is around Rs 30crore. This is just an attempt to entice the viewers, just like Amazon did who has spent almost Rs 7.5 crore around UDS 75 million. Obviously, the amount spend by Netflix Tv is much more than Amazon.
At the time of launching of Netflix in India, the streaming service was more concerned of capturing those audience who were interested in the content streaming from the countries such as United States and UK. At that time, it didn’t invest much in the local content in India and this is the reason that has slowed down the growth of Netflix in India.
If compare Netflix and Amazon in terms of customers since the time of their launch, then here Amazon has the upper hand by having 9.5 million customers just within six months of its launch and Netflix has 4.2 million viewers as calculated in January.
Now Netflix seems firmer to run fast in the race to compete with the growing streaming market of Amazon in India. For this Netflix has join hands with the production houses of India like Red Chillies Entertainment and Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Even the streaming giant has also closed its long-term deal with Aamir Khan Productions which is worth Rs 500 crores. With this deal the Netflix will bring the whole catalog of Aamir Khan productions under its on-demand video streaming service catalog.
Another step that has been taken by the streaming giant is to set up its another office in India in Mumbai. The size of this office will same as the size of their office in Tokyo. The Tokyo office of Netflix now has around 50 employees. The office in Mumbai will the fourth office of Netflix in Asian region after the offices in Singapore, Tokyo, and Taiwan.
