There were times when you had only thought of Hulu service on Linux distributions and was not accessible from it. But with the advent of technology and recent research, this has become possible. You can now enjoy Hulu on your Ubuntu and other Linux systems by applying small tweaks. Sign onto Hulu.com activate and start enjoying the service without any error.
Hulu had been offering its service to Linux distributions earlier also but discontinued after some time due to some glitches in it. Hulu is mainly dependent on Adobe flash player and DRM player for streaming the contents.
Earlier Hulu worked on DRM flash players which were used to fetch the codes from Linux library. This technology has now become obsolete and is not available in Latest Linux systems. So, to cover up this problem, you need to download Firefox in your system. This will allow you to activate Hulu account on your device and you will be able to fetch the whole package that is required for HAL based DRM.
Apart from this, if you are using an older version of HAL, then it will only support Mozilla Firefox browser, not Chrome browser because the PPAPI format is not supported by Chrome browser.
Step1: Installation of flash player on Firefox
To enjoy Hulu plus on the system, the very first step is to download the flash player plugin for your Mozilla Firefox. If you try to watch the contents without flash player, then you will get an error message on the browser screen even.
The flash player can be easily downloaded from the software repositories of your Linux. If you are an Ubuntu user, then you can get it downloaded from the official Ubuntu web page. Install it in your Mozilla Firefox and start using it.
An important point to mention here is that you will have to download Flash player plugin for Mozilla only. If you are using a Chrome browser, then you need PPAPI plugin. This plugin is best supported by the Chrome browser and also fits well on Hulu activate link.
Step2: Installing an HAL library
Once the plugin gets downloaded, you need to open the browser and go to Hulu.com sign in page from your system and start playing the contents without entering Hulu activation code. You will get an error message on the screen which says that you are not allowed to watch protected contents. To get rid of this error, delete all cookies, cache and license files from the HAL package.
Now, you will be prompted to download the HAL package from the adobe flash page. If you are using an Ubuntu based system, then you will not be able to install such package. One of the senior executives at Ubuntu has provided an alternate solution to this problem. He said you can download the PPA file on your system and try playing contents through it. You will be able to playback all the protected contents from Hulu app without any urgency to download the complete HAL layer.
PPA is required in Ubuntu system. For this, open the command window and start pasting the commands in serial order. Press Enter after each command. You will be able to get HAL package after pasting all the commands.
